The University of Redlands and Esri, the global market leader in geographic information systems (GIS), have partnered in their second annual tree giveaway to distribute free trees in an effort to fortify the region’s urban forest and promote environmental stewardship.
Two free trees per household will be available for drive-thru pick up from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the University of Redlands Memorial Chapel, located off of Colton Avenue on the University of Redlands campus.
The trees are small saplings in tiny pots and will be replenished every hour.
Species including holly oak, golden trumpet tree, pink melaleuca, Chinese pistache, and sweet bay will be available with instructions for planting and maintenance. —Jennifer
