Larry Burgess and Tom Atchley offering 8-week Redlands history class

Larry Burgess and Tom Atchley know everything about Redlands — and they’re ready to pass along that knowledge.

Burgess, the A.K. Smiley Public Library’s director emeritus, and Atchley, a retired Redlands High School history teacher, are once again presenting their popular 8-week Redlands history class. Starting Feb. 18 and running through April 7, classes will take place on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the A.K. Smiley Public Library’s Assembly Room.

Students will learn about the history of Redlands and its founders, its climate and geology, social and cultural history, notable residents, and even scandals. The class costs $30 per person, with proceeds going to the library’s Heritage Room.
