Feast of Lights

Feast of Lights starts new tradition in 2019

For 72 years, the University of Redlands has presented the Feast of Lights, a service of worship celebrating the birth of Jesus. In 2019, a new tradition is being introduced, allowing more children to enjoy the event.

The Feast of Lights features spoken word, tableaux, song, and instrumental offering, and always ends with the Ceremony of Candles. Starting this December, the annual Monday evening service will be replaced by The Children’s Feast, an adaptation of the presentation for families with kids. The University of Redlands Youth Choir and Training Chorus will join the University of Redlands’ choirs, orchestra, and instrumental ensembles for the celebration.

A food drive is held every year during the Feast of Lights, and attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Family Service Association of Redlands.

Presentations will be held inside the University of Redlands’ Memorial Chapel at 8 p.m. on Dec. 6 and Dec. 7, 4 p.m. on Dec. 8, and 10 a.m. on Dec. 7. Tickets range fro $5 to $25, and can be purchased online. â€”Catherine
