Join the A.K. Smiley Public Library for its 18th annual Family Day on Saturday, Oct. 12.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., families are invited to participate in fun activities, listen to a presentation from author and illustrator Joe Cepeda, and pick up their very own paperback book to take home and add to their personal libraries. A complimentary lunch will also be served to all children in attendance, and everyone will receive a free snow cone.
Cepeda’s program will run from 11 to 11:30 a.m. in the library’s Assembly Room, and he will sign books afterwards. All of the activity stations will be based on his books, and will include crafts and pumpkin decorating.
The first 200 families to check in for Family Day will receive a free hardcover book, while every child in Kindergarten through the fifth grade will get a free paperback. Registration starts at 9 a.m. in Smiley Park, by the Young Readers’ Room. Visit the library’s website here. —Catherine
