It’s fall, and you know what that means — it’s time for Oktoberfest.
The Redlands Optimist Club is holding its 9th annual Redlands Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 5, in Sylvan Park. A family-friendly event, the fun will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with something for everyone — for the kids, a play area will be set up with activities, a bounce house, a climbing wall, and a slide, while adults 21 and over can indulge in local and German beers.
The American-Bavarian Brass Band will provide the soundtrack to Oktoberfest, with oompah and polka numbers, and revelers can participate in costume, stein holding, and yodeling contests. Several vendors will also be on hand, serving up traditional German fare.
Sponsored by Emerson & Farrar Jewelers, Oktoberfest is one of the Redlands Optimist Club’s biggest fundraisers of the year, with all proceeds going to the club’s youth projects. Tickets are $10 for adults 21 and over, and free for everyone 20 or under. Tickets can be purchased online. Sylvan Park is at 601 N. University St., Redlands. —Catherine
