LOT22 Olive Oil Co. couldn’t be more local if it tried.
The store, at 110 E. State St., sells olive oil made from locally-grown and hand-harvested olives. As LOT22 explains on its website, the owners planted a plot of arbequina olive trees on their property in 2012, harvesting them three years later. They made olive oil in their kitchen, and found the taste to be outstanding, like nothing they’d ever had before. Now, their grove — which they manage and work themselves — has more than 200 trees.
LOT22 offers free tastings of their olive oils and balsamic and specialty vinegars; standouts include the arbequina extra virgin olive oil, black truffle olive oil, cara cara orange and vanilla white balsamic vinegar, and serrano honey vinegar. The store sells Spanish, Greek and Italian olive oil varietals, as well as specialty food items, including Spanish olives stuffed with almonds and handmade pasta.
LOT22 Olive Oil Co. is open Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. They are closed on Saturdays. —Catherine
