Gabriel Gomez, a sophomore at Citrus Valley High School, has been named a 2019 Youth of the Year Ambassador for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside.
Gomez says after being bullied, the Club helped him express his identity and increase his self-esteem.
“The Boys & Girls Club saw potential in me and consistently encouraged me to be the best version of myself,” he said.
Gomez is now a junior staff member at the Boys & Girls Club in Redlands, and president of the Keystone Club at Citrus Valley.
The other ambassadors are Jocelyn Perez of Corona, the 2019 Youth of the Year, and Genesis Sanchez of Riverside. As youth ambassadors, the trio will serve as spokespeople for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside. They will also be honored at the Be Great Awards on May 15, and will receive college scholarships. —Catherine
