Now in its fifth year, the Redlands Turkey Trot is a fun — and charitable — way to start Thanksgiving.
The event is divided into two parts: a 1K fun run for kids that starts at 7:45 a.m. and a 5K run/walk that begins at 8 a.m. All participants will receive a T-shirt, and awards are given out to the overall male and female winners, the top male and female winners in each age category, and best costumes.
The 5K starts and finishes at Sylvan Park, with the course taking runners through the University of Redlands. Proceeds will go to several charities, including Phoenix Hope International, Redlands Educational Partnership Foundation, Inland Harvest, and Youth Hope.
For the 1K, the cost to register is $15 with a canned food donation, $20 without. For the 5K, it’s $30 with a canned food donation, and $20 without. All donations will go to the Inland Harvest food bank.
Race day registration and check-in starts at 6:30 a.m. Nov. 22 in Sylvan Park. Participants can also check-in and pick up their packets earlier on Nov. 21, from noon to 7 p.m., at The Running Center, 1430 Industrial Park Ave., Redlands. —Catherine
