Three local service clubs took more than 100 youth from Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside back-to-school shopping on Aug. 4.
The Noon Kiwanis Club of Redlands, Kiwanis Club of San Bernardino, and Redlands Elks Lodge paid for the youth to each get $100 worth of clothes, shoes, socks and other essentials at Kohl’s in Redlands. A Kiwanis or Elks member was paired with each young person and accompanied them around the store.
In addition to the shopping spree, Aldi donated 110 backpacks filled with school supplies, and employees from Aldi’s regional headquarters in Moreno Valley volunteered at the event.
“The organizations that participate in this event make sure that our members who need it most are prepared for a successful school year,” Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside Senior Vice President Mark Davis said. “We’re grateful for their service to local kids.” —Joy
