On Wednesday, the Family Service Association of Redlands put out an urgent message: they need food donations, and fast.
The organization operates a pantry that serves families in need, giving them enough food for a week, but they are nearly out of items. On Facebook, the FSA said summer is difficult, because there are so many families with limited incomes whose children are not in school, and thus are not receiving free breakfast and lunch.
The FSA is asking for donations of non-perishable items, including canned pasta meals like macaroni and cheese; canned meats, including tuna and chicken; canned fruit; rice and pasta that can be microwaved; Top Ramen; cake mixes and frosting; all types of canned tomatoes; pancake mix and syrup; cereal; dry beans; cooking oil; peanut butter; and jelly.
FSA asks that donors not drop off opened packages or perishable items. Donations can be brought to Family Service Association of Redlands headquarters at 612 Lawton St., Redlands. Drop off hours are Monday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call Family Service Association of Redlands at 909-793-6273.
