Trombone and tuba players briefly took over the University of Redlands

The sounds you heard from the University of Redlands campus in June? Those were trombones and tubas, as Dr. Andrew Glendening, dean of the University of Redlands School of Music, led a warm-up outside of Memorial Chapel during the 12th annual Pokorny Low Brass Seminar.

About 60 musicians attended the seminar, which ran June 18 to 23. Named for Gene Pokorny, principal tuba of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and University of Redlands alumnus, the week-long seminar brought together some of the world’s finest orchestral musicians and students for a week of master classes, seminars and performances engaging a wide range of musical, stylistic, technical and professional issues in-depth.
