The 95th season of the Redlands Bowl, the longest-running free outdoor concert series in the United States, kicked off on Friday night with a bout of Italian flair.
The opening concert, Viva Italia!, featured O Sole Trio and the Redlands Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Frank Fetta.
Opening night, sponsored in part by the University of Redlands, also featured a number of familiar faces: President Ralph Kuncl; Director of Alumni & Community Relations Shelli Stockon, who made an appearance dressed as Buddy the bulldog mascot; and live bulldog mascot Adelaide (Addie), along with her handler, Assistant Director of Alumni & Community Relations Mary Littlejohn.
Though dogs aren’t allowed at the Redlands Bowl, a gracious exception was made for Addie, who delighted the crowd with her wrinkly face and exuberant Redlands spirit.
